Lynda McGill

Specialist Therapeutic Practitioner

Lynda qualified as a Social Worker in 2002. She is registered with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC).  On qualification she commenced as a social worker within a front line family and childcare team, remaining there for 5 years. Since 2007 Lynda has been working with children, adolescents, and families within Looked  After Children services. She commenced as a Team Manager for LAAC therapeutic support services in 2013 while also continuing in her clinical role. 

Lynda has an MScPD in Social Work and has attained both Specialist and PIP Leadership and Strategic post-qualifying Social Work awards. She has achieved accreditation as a facilitator in the Just Right State Programme and is a Sensory Attachment Intervention practitioner.  Lynda is accredited as a Reliable Coder in the Meaning of the Child Interview and is trained in the Child Attachment Play Assessment and is working towards reliability in coding.  Other therapeutic models used by Lynda in her work with children and families include Compassion Focused Therapy and early intervention models such as the Family Ties Model and COSP, Theraplay (level 1 practitioner), Foundations for Attachment, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (accredited in level 1&2) and Compassion Focused Therapy. Lynda has authored and co-authored articles on the Narrative Model and has presented on this in various forums including Adoption UK, Coram Voice Coram BAAF, and Irish Foster Care Association.
